Coast-line Workshop
Live on Zoom, Thursday, June 15th, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm PST
In this online workshop we’ll be using line to visually explore the coastal landscape. We’ll play with mark-making, value, simplification, and a variety of techniques to create a series of gestural compositions. I’ll be sharing tutorials on both drawing and painting, using different mediums such as brush pens, sumi ink, and watercolors. This class is rooted in process above output, with an emphasis on experimentation, curiosity, and play. All levels welcome.
Participants will receive an email 24 hours prior to class with a zoom link, as well as a selection of reference images that I’ll be using during the lesson. Feel free to use these images along with me, or bring a selection of your own photographs to work from.
For materials I’ll be using : a brush pen (I like the LePen black brush pen), sumi ink, watercolors, a small watercolor paintbrush, and a variety of paper (I use whatever I have on hand such as watercolor paper, printmaking paper, or scrap paper). Feel free to join with whatever materials lend themselves to drawn and/or painted line.
This workshop will be recorded. The link to that recording will be sent out via email after the class.
There are 5 free spots available for BIPOC, trans people, and those facing housing insecurity. These are on a first come first serve basis. Please email me at contact@tessrubinstein.com to inquire.
There are no refunds offered at this time.
